GIA DESIGN AWARDS 2024
28th November 2024We were thrilled to attend the Glasgow Institute of Architect Design Awards 2024 where the Thomas Graham Community Library was nominated in the Leisure/Arts category alongside an impressive range of projects.
Located in Strathblane, Thomas Graham Community Library replaces a 40 year old portacabin and is the first community-council partnership to deliver library services in Scotland. The design, inspired by its location beneath the Campsie Fells, features a large glass façade for natural light and visibility, eco-friendly materials, and advanced energy systems resulting in a zero energy building. The library aims to serve as a vital community hub, fostering learning and engagement.
Following the awards, we were all left reflecting on the words of guest speaker Anna Campbell-Jones and her call to arms for our profession to help inspire new generations to make an impact on their built environment. To this end we feel the high quality of entries across all categories will serve as a great source inspiration. Congratulations to all winners and shortlisted projects at the GIA Design Awards 2024.
