FEATURE: INNOVATION IN CLASSICISM
8th October 2013Tom was invited as a guest to the Art Workers' Guild in London where there was an interesting talk by Robert Adam of Adam Architecture entitled - Innovation in Classicism.
Robert Adam explained how classicism continues to evolve with one example showing how classicism has been applied to a low-energy solar house featuring a dark stone floor as a heat store and passive stack ventilation and solar gain being used from south-facing windows modulated by shading from a pediment.
A bust and a painting of notable innovators from the past including William Morris and Sir Edwin Lutyens looked on.
