The Design

At this point we work through the concept design, arranging the space, and considering all factors that affect it.

Design is obviously the core part of our service as architects, and is what most clients come to us for. During this part of our service we work through the concept design, fine-tuning what will become the design for your residential architecture project.

It’s a process that we’ve honed over many years, and we bring a great deal of expertise and skill to it, which is why our designs work. We arrange the space, and considering everything from how daylight hits each part of the house, where the best views are and how to frame them, the overall flow of the design. While it starts with sketches on paper, it quickly moves to the computer, from where it can be enhanced and comes to life using CAD technology.

There may also be technical feasibility surveys and other reports necessary during this stage to ensure that what we want to do will work. There will be back and forth with you, the client, during this stage until the design is exactly right, before moving on to the technical designs that are used by contractors.

This is also the stage at which we seek planning consents. We consider ourselves skilled in understanding what is necessary for gaining consents from the relevant statutory bodies, and always present detailed and thorough discussion of our ideas so that planners have all the information needed.
