Heritage Statements

Documents are often prepared to accompany planning applications for historic residential buildings when alterations or refurbishment works are being planned.

These documents will inform the building owner and planning and conservation officers about matters of the cultural significance of the building and set a context for any proposed works to be considered.

When proposing change to historic environments it is essential to be able to demonstrate that the heritage asset has been properly appreciated and understood. The heritage statement is a concise method of doing this.
